NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans Saints fans will notice two big improvements during this year's home games. Two new massive HD video boards in each end zone are 333' wide by 38' high. SMG, the company that manages the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, says the new screens are a 900 percent increase from the previous boards.
SMG says besides the new video boards, there is a renovated state-of-the-art HD video control room with upgraded sound systems. All combined the boards, and sound system are expected to give Saints fans an incredible experience this football season.
Other improvements include a major makeover to the 400-level suites. The 64 suites now boast a new contemporary design. SMG says the restrooms in the 400-level have been newly constructed and are now comparable to those at a 5-star hotel.
"These improvements are another important step toward preserving and enhancing the iconic Mercedes-Benz Superdome," said Alan Freeman, SMG General Manager of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. "The Dome continues to be a viable and beloved home for the Saints, as well as other major events. We have a unique partnership with the New Orleans Saints and the State of Louisiana, which allows for sustaining the Superdome's status as a state-of-the-art facility."
A major improvement most fans will notice are LED lights in the seating bowl, in the parking garages and on the Plaza Level exterior. SMG says the new lights are expected to provide substantial energy savings. The Superdome also had two chillers replaced with energy efficient ones.
SMG says the Saints Hall of Fame Museum has also recently undergone a major renovation project.
