NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The end of training camp is finally upon us. West Virginia, to New England, back to The Greenbrier, then to Houston, and finally Metairie. Today was the last open practice of this Saints camp. So far so good leading into Friday night's game.
"We're healthier than we've been in awhile. Last night in the meeting, it seems this year there was less hamstring injuries that I can remember," said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton. "There's been some camps where it kept guys from practicing. We got a handful of guys that can back after Houston, that's one impression. We weren't rained out at all, whether it was one of those teams, or up in West Virginia. We've had some good heat here, yet guys have worked through it. Overall good, real good."
The players, on the other hand, are just glad training camp is at its end.
"It's been a hard camp I would say. We've been physical, we've been hitting. I can't imagine anyone practicing harder the last three weeks. So none of us are really fresh, but we're out here making plays at 70 and 80 percent. So I can't wait to see how everyone does with our legs under us," said safety Kenny Vaccaro.
The official end to training camp is at the conclusion of Friday night's game. Final cuts are next weekend when the roster goes to 53 players.
