NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A Southwest Airlines flight from New Orleans to Orlando was diverted to Pensacola, due to a mechanical issue with one of the plane's engines. The incident occurred Saturday morning.
A Southwest Airlines spokesperson said that the captain of Flight #3472 made the decision to divert the flight. The plane landed safely in Pensacola at 9:40 a.m. No injuries were reported among the 99 passengers and five crew members on board.
Southwest officials have contacted the NTSB and will inspect the aircraft to assess the damage, when authorized. Crews are working to accommodate the passengers to Orlando or their destination.
