NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - This morning recovery crews will begin removing a plane that crashed into Lake Pontchartrain Saturday night.
Meanwhile, the search is still on for two men who were on board.
The New Orleans Fire Department says after a joint search recovery effort that small Cessna was located about 1,000 feet west of the Lakefront Airport runway, where the plane was supposed to land.
They say it was trying to land during training exercises when it crashed into Lake Pontchartrain with three passengers on board.
A woman on board was picked up by a private yacht and taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition is unknown right now, but two men who were also in the plane are still missing.
As far as the plane itself, the NOFD says it took about 19 hours to find it. It went down around 9 p.m. Saturday and dive teams located it around 4 p.m. Sunday.
The two missing men have not been identified, but the NOFD says we should be able to learn more about them during the recovery effort.
