(WVUE) - Tropical Depression 9 continues to move through the southern Gulf of Mexico this morning.
It is likely to strengthen to a tropical storm later today.
All indications still point to the storm moving north and then taking a hard turn to the east on Wednesday which would impact the west coast of Florida.
For southeast Louisiana, only an indirect impact is expected.
A coastal flood watch is in effect for tides running one to two feet above normal into Thursday.
In addition, much drier air is likely to filter in behind the storm for the rest of the week erasing most chances for any rain.
The area will be quite hot as a result with highs climbing into the mid-90s and feeling like the triple digits each afternoon.
