LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State troopers are investigating a single vehicle crash that took the life of a 72-year-old man from Gray, LA. Troopers from Troop C were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash Tuesday morning around 10:00 a.m. on the entrance ramp to US Hwy 90 West from LA 1.
The motorcycle driver, identified as Vernon Fletcher, reportedly was traveling on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Fletcher entered a right curve in the entrance ramp when for unknown reasons, his motorcycle ran off of the road to the left. Troopers say Fletcher attempted to re-enter the on-ramp and lost control of the motorcycle.
He was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries. Fletcher was transported to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital where he later died. State Police say Fletcher was wearing an approved DOT helmet at the time of the crash.
Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash; however, standard toxicology reports are pending.
