NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Police were called Tuesday night to a shooting in New Orleans and a fatal shooting in Metairie.
The Metairie shooting was reported just after 8:30 p.m., when officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of the 400 block of N. Laurel St. and then received an additional call of a subject shot on Market Street near N. Laurel. Officers located the body of a black male lying in the street. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Witnesses told investigators they heard gunshots in the 400 block of N. Laurel and then saw the victim running on Market, where he collapsed. Crime Scene technicians recovered several spent shell casings in the area.
The second shooting was reported at 8:50 p.m. at N. Claiborne Avenue and Touro Street in the Seventh Ward, where a male was found shot. There was no word on his condition.
