ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The St. John the Baptist Parish community will turn out this morning to say goodbye to a fire chief killed in an accident on I-10 last weekend.
A big crowd is expected for a memorial service honoring 36-year-old Spencer Chauvin.
Chauvin, a husband, and father was killed Sunday while responding to an accident on I-10.
Police say a charter bus ran into Chauvin and other firefighters on the scene.
Chauvin was a 12-year veteran of the parish fire department, someone his colleagues say they looked up to and was a model leader.
He was also extremely dedicated to his family.
Today's service starts at 8:30 a.m. Then Chauvin's body will be taken 24 miles to the St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard. He'll then be buried.
The St. John community is invited to come out today to pay their respects to Chauvin and many are expected to line the route today's procession will take.
