Authorities welcome citizens along the funeral procession route for Chief Spencer Chauvin

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office welcomes residents to line roads to show their support for St. John Fire Chief Spencer Chauvin as his funeral procession travels from the St. John Civic Center in LaPlace to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard today beginning at 1 p.m.

U.S. 61 will close at 12:45 p.m.

The procession will leave the civic center, head south on U.S. 51, turn right onto U.S. 61 head west through Reserve and Garyville.

It will then turn left onto LA 3213 southbound travel over the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Gramercy, exit LA 18 and travel eastbound, ending at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard.

A Mass will be celebrated about 2:30 p.m. The burial will follow Mass.

During the motorcade, Louisiana 44 is the alternate route for travelers.
