KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

A house fire in Kenner killed a woman and her dog this morning, officials say.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, in the 3700 block of Loyola Street, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

When firefighters were able to enter the home, they found the woman dead in a rear bedroom with her dog.

Fire officials do not believe the fire to be suspicious in nature and do not suspect arson.

There were no working smoke alarms in the home.

Neighbors say the woman, who authorities have not yet identified, was fun loving and an animal-lover.

They say she was at the Saints game Thursday night and came home late.
