1 killed, 1 injured in head-on collision on Chef Menteur Hwy.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that left one person dead and another injured Sunday morning.

According to police, the crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. in the 18000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that a white Ford F-150 and a green Chevrolet Silverado had been involved in a head-on collision.

Officers say they driver of the Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators say toxicology reports are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

The identities of the both of the drivers have not been released.
