METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Cole Gillespie's two-run double capped a late rally for the New Orleans Zephyrs, who came from behind to defeat the Nashville Sounds, 4-3 Sunday night.
The Z's trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh before getting on the board courtesy of Austin Nola's two-out RBI single.
Elliot Soto's leadoff double in the eighth began the winning rally against reliever Eduard Santos, who then issued a one-out walk to Isaac Galloway to put the tying run on base. Cole Figueroa laced a single to left to bring the Zephyrs within a run, and Gillespie greeted Aaron Kurcz with a double to the wall to score a pair and put New Orleans in front.
Hunter Cervenka struck out the side in the ninth to record his first save as a Zephyr, and become the 16th different Z's pitcher to earn a save this season, a club record.
It was the Zephyrs' third win in 64 games this season when trailing after seven innings, and gave the Z's a shot at finishing the year at .500 going into Monday's season finale.
