NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Storms are roaming around the area today but not near as stormy as Labor Day. Drier air is gradually building in from the East and will mean low rain chances for the rest of the week. A stray shower can’t be ruled out into Wednesday but little, if any rain is expected Thursday and Friday.

For the weekend, a weak tropical wave will move across the Southern Gulf of Mexico. It’s possible the northern fringe of the wave may brush the area so a return to widely scattered showers and storms is likely by Saturday and Sunday. A similar pattern is expected to continue into early next week with no major weather systems affecting the area.

In the tropics, the above-mentioned wave is not expected to develop. A strong tropical wave near the African continent is expected to become a depression over the next five days. It is no immediate threat to any land areas.
