River Ridge man arrested in Bengal Road homicide

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

A River Ridge man was arrested Thursday and charged in a Wednesday night shooting on Bengal Road.

Jefferson Parish deputies arrested Shecorey Young, 20, of the 700 block of Richard Street in River Ridge.

Young is charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Young was found by U.S. Marshals in a Clearview Parkway motel in Metairie.

Young is accused of shooting and killing Jeffery Johnson, 34, of the 7800 block of Concord Street in New Orleans. Johnson was shot in the 300 block of Bengal Road.

A 16-year-old juvenile from River Ridge, whose injury was not life-threatening, was also shot during this same incident.

A third victim identified only as a 35-year-old man was also at the scene when the shooting started. He was not injured.

Young has a prior criminal history with arrests including armed robbery (twice), car-jacking, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated battery, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, unauthorized entry of a business, attempted simple burglary and two parole violations.
