KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

Kenner police arrested convicted felon Clarence Gould, 26 and booked him for possession of multiple firearms.

Officers say the case has its roots in the investigation of a shooting at an apartment complex on 31st Street Friday night (Sept. 2).

According to police, a Chevrolet Tahoe had been seen suspiciously circling the apartment complex after the shooting.

They say men were seen getting out of the Tahoe carrying long guns.

Police were able to get a license plate number. The vehicle is registered to Clarence Gould of Houston, TX.

They learned Gould had a past conviction for crack cocaine possession and there were multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Investigators found the Tahoe Tuesday morning outside the Brother's Food Mart in Kenner. They say officers spotted a handgun in plain view on the Tahoe's driver's seat as they took Gould into custody.

Police say a search of the vehicle turned up an additional handgun and an assault rifle.

Kenner police booked Gould with three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felony and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Gould's bond was set at $185,000.
