Feds charge suspected militiaman with drugs, weapons charges

Federal prosecutors charged a suspected militiaman with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of illegal firearms.

James Moore, Jr., 47, of Talisheek, was charged Thursday in a five-count indictment.

Beginning in January, the FBI conducted a number of controlled purchases of meth from Moore, according to authorities. The investigation also turned up firearms.

Police arrested Moore on Aug. 29 after executing several search warrants.

Moore is a ranking member of the Louisiana Tactical Militia, according to the FBI.

He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of his crimes.
