NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A power outage that initially affected more than 3,800 Entergy customers was being resolved block by block Friday evening.

The outage, which covered most of Mid-City and parts of Bayou St. John, began at about 6:30 p.m. By 8:10 p.m., just over 400 customers were still in the dark.

Customers at restaurants and businesses along busy Carrollton Avenue could be seen standing outside, and non-working traffic lights in the crowded area of Canal and Carrollton were causing some headaches for drivers.

Entergy listed the cause as "equipment failure. Their website indicated restoration times of 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
