Houma police arrest armed robbery suspect

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

Houma police were called to the 7400 block of Main Street on Friday.

Initial reports claim a man with a silver handgun was firing shots in the area.

Responding officers found Jonte Dreon Killough, 18 hiding behind a stairwell at the First Class Apartments.

Killough took off running from officers and swam through a canal.

He was eventually apprehended later that evening.

No weapon was retrieved.

The suspect was initially charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon, resisting officer, providing false information, and obstruction of justice.

Killough had an outstanding warrant in connection to an armed robbery.

He could face additional charges in connection that crime.
