NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A bullet pierced the window of a classroom at Akili Academy in the 9th Ward Monday afternoon, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Police were called out to the intersection of Desire and N. Galvez just before 1 p.m. to investigate a report of someone shot. Officers were unable to locate a victim or any evidence of a victim at the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, officers located a bullet that had struck a window at nearby Akili Academy at 3811 North Galvez Street.
The bullet struck the window, but got stuck in the glass and did not go all the way through. Police say six students were inside the classroom when the bullet struck the window. None of the students were injured.
A spokesperson for the school released a statement saying, "All of our students and staff at Akili Academy are safe. Right now we do not have any other updates as this is an on going police investigation."
