CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) - As the St. Bernard Parish District Attorney's office looks into practices at the St. Bernard Parish hospital, a grand jury will meet today to take testimony in the case, Fox 8 News has learned.
A Fox 8 source with knowledge of the situation said people connected to the hospital have been called to testify today.
Former hospital administrator Wayne Landry tells us he knows about the DA's investigation and even admits he thinks he'll be indicted.
Landry says he used hospital money to recruit doctors to the public hospital. In recent weeks, several hospital leaders resigned from their positions leaving a void in leadership.
Tuesday night at a hospital service district meeting, a new board member had to be sworn to make a quorum to hold the meeting on the future of the hospital.
Landry says the hospital has handed over every document the DA has asked for, financial and otherwise.
He says despite the investigation, he still wants the hospital to thrive, for the benefit of St. Bernard parish residents.
We're told the grand jury is expected to meet later Wednesday morning.
