Bodies of Breaux Bridge men recovered from Bayou Teche

BREAUX BRIDGE, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents recovered the bodies of two men from Bayou Teche in St. Martin Parish on Thursday.

The bodies of Reese Hebert, 21, and Timothy Guidry, 20, both of Breaux Bridge, were found in the bayou just south of Breaux Bridge.

Agents received a call that the men were missing after they didn't return from a fishing trip the night before. Agents arrived on scene around 1:30 p.m. They found Hebert's body around 3:20 p.m. and Guidry's at around 5:30 p.m. Neither was wearing a personal flotation device.

Agents learned that the two men went out fishing from a pirogue Thursday at 1 a.m. about 100 yards south of a private fishing pier. After they didn't return, the mother of one of the men searched the bayou, found the partially sunken pirogue and called authorities.

LDWF will be the lead investigative agency in the incident. The bodies were turned over to the St. Martin Parish Coroner's Office to determine a cause of death.
