ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Investigators suspect rough weather might have played a role in the death of a man fishing on Lake Pontchartrain.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's deputies recovered the body of 67-year-old George A. Charrier around 2:15 Friday afternoon.
They found Charrier's body about 60 yards east of the Causeway bridge near mile marker 13.1. His partially submerged, 14-foot boat was between the bridge spans.
Investigators don't know how Charrier wound up in the water or how long he had been there. But, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents say a thunderstorm had kicked up in the area where Charrier was fishing.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
