NOPD investigates New Orleans East armed robbery

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating a Sunday afternoon armed robbery in New Orleans East.

The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 9600 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

A suspect, described as a black man, walked into a Dollar Tree store and lifted up his shirt, partially drew a black handgun from his front waistband, and demanded the cashier open the register.

The suspect then took cash from the register and fled to the rear of the store. He then fled the area.
