NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department arrested a burglary suspect after a brief chase in Algiers on Tuesday.

Officers said a witness saw Kirk Severin, 57, steal from a home's detached garage in the 100 block of Aurora Drive early Tuesday morning and put the items in a cart. Police said Severin took off when officers tried to stop him and ran through the backyards of several homes.

Officers arrested Severin nearby in the 6200 block of Oxford Place. He was booked with simple burglary, illegal possession of stolen items and flight from an officer.
