NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Two men wanted for stealing an SUV didn't get to keep it very long.

The vehicle's OnStar system disabled it by remote control while they went inside a gas station convenience store.

Now, New Orleans Police hope surveillance video from that store will help catch the thieves.

The theft happened September 7 in the 3600 block of Alfred Street.

Two witnesses spotted a man ride up on a bicycle, which he placed alongside the house.

They say he got into the brown Chevy Trax parked in the driveway and drove off.

Less than an hour later, police say the stolen vehicle pulled into a parking spot at the Valero gas station and convenience store.

Two men got out of the vehicle and went inside the store. But, while they were inside, the OnStar system disabled the car.

Investigators hope someone will recognize the men from the surveillance video and images and contact Third District detectives at 504-658-6030 or call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
