Workout Wednesday: Medicine Ball Circuit

Leilani Heno, owner of X Trainers in Mid-City demonstrates three exercises done with a medicine ball for a total body workout. 

1. Ball chest throws - Using the medicine ball, throw ball against the wall at chest level. Perform three sets at 12 to 15 reps each. This exercise works your chest, biceps, and the front of your shoulders. This workout also targets the legs by sitting in a squat position. 

2. Ball slams - Using the same medicine ball, slam ball into ground with great force. Perform three sets of 15. This exercise works your core, your upper back,  your shoulders and all lower stability by sitting in a squat position.

3. Around the world chops - Holding medicine ball, swing arms around the head ending in an angled "chop" position. Perform three sets of 12 on both sides. This exercise works your obliques, all parts of  your shoulders, and isometric lower body by sitting in a squat position.
