(WVUE) - Drier and cooler air is continuing to move into the area and more comfortable conditions are in the forecast.
This afternoon, highs will climb to the mid-80s with a northwesterly breeze. This evening should be pleasant and by tomorrow morning, we can expect upper 50s on the north shore and upper 60s on the south shore. This is near average for this time of year, but it will feel great compared to the record heat of earlier this week.
October is our driest month of the year and it will begin just like that. Rain chances will remain near zero for the next week.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Matthew is moving west into the eastern Caribbean and for now, is expected to take a northward turn east of the Gulf. Matthew has the potential to be a major hurricane with large impacts. It isn't a threat to the Gulf at this time, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
