One man arrested for two Garden District armed robberies

One man was arrested for two Garden District armed robberies that happened within minutes of each other Thursday afternoon.

According to initial police reports, Derrell Hilton, 21, was arrested after he robbed a couple and then two women and a man in separate incidents.

The first robbery occurred in the 1400 block of Sixth Street.

The victims, women ages 29 and 19 were sitting inside a vehicle when Hilton approached and demanded money.

The victims complied and Hilton fled the scene.

The second robbery occurred about four minutes later around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Second and Coliseum streets.

In this case, the victims, two women ages 70 and 35 and a 34-year-old man, were approached by a suspect, later identified as Hilton.

Hilton pulled a gun and demanded their property.

The victims complied and Hilton fled the scene in a white vehicle with two purses.

Hilton was caught and arrested shortly after the second robbery.
