NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police are investigating a crash in Mid City that claimed the lives of three people and left two injured. The incident occurred Sunday, just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of Tulane and South Carrollton Avenues.
Police say that officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injuries. Investigators learned that a flatbed tow truck that was traveling southbound on Tulane, left the roadway, for unknown reasons and struck four pedestrians.
The truck then drove through the fence of a nearby shopping center and struck multiple parked vehicles before coming to rest.
According to police, two of the pedestrians were pronounced dead on the scene. A third pedestrian was brought to a local hospital via EMS, but was later pronounced dead. The fourth pedestrian and the driver of the truck were also brought to a local hospital to receive treatment for injuries.
The investigation into the incident continues.
