NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Law enforcement seized more than $187,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine at the Amtrak Union Passenger terminal in New Orleans.

Wednesday morning, detectives assigned to the train station for narcotics interdiction detained Carmen Ochoa, 27, of Los Angeles.

They discovered 5.3 pounds of the drug on Ochoa, according to Louisiana State Police.

It is unclear why authorities stopped the woman.

She was arrested and booked into the Orleans Central Lock Up on one charge of possession with intent to distribute a schedule II controlled dangerous substance.

Investigators included LSP, Amtrak, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, New Orleans Police Department and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Ochoa is being held without bond.
