GRETNA, LA (WVUE) - Because of travel complications created by Hurricane Matthew, Lynyrd Skynyrd has canceled the band's Saturday night appearance at the Gretna Heritage Festival.
Country music singer Travis Tritt will perform in Skynyrd's slot.
The festival sent out a press release which read, in part:
"It is very unfortunate that Hurricane Matthew is affecting the East Coast of the United States this weekend. We here in South Louisiana and the Metropolitan New Orleans area of Louisiana know all too well the effects a major storm can have. The effects of Matthew unfortunately have touched the Gretna Heritage Festival in the production and presentation of one of its acts. Members of the Lynyard Skynyrd Band reside on the East Coast of Florida and have suffered the wrath of Hurricane Matthew. These artist and band are not able to appear at the Gretna Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 8, 2016 due to Hurricane Matthew."
