METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

Opening statements are set to begin today in the trial of a man accused of gunning down a Metairie father and his son.

A jury was seated late Tuesday night in the trial of Dexter Allen who faces second-degree murder charges for the deaths of David and Nicholas Pence.

The father and son were killed inside their home last April while David's wife, and Nicholas' mother, Elizabeth, slept in her bedroom.

Jefferson Parish deputies say Allen and a woman, Haraquon Degruy, we're breaking into cars that night on the street when they entered the Pence home.

Allen was allegedly armed with a shotgun and fired at David Pence while he sat in a recliner. Nicholas Pence was also shot and killed.

Immediately after the murders neighbors on Clifford drive expressed shock and disgust at the crime.

While opening statements are expected to begin today, Degruy, will go on trial at a later date.
