LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of shooting at a deputy during a pursuit. According to a press release, investigators identified the suspect as 31-year old Blaine Beason.

Sheriff Jason Ard said the incident started early Wednesday morning when the on-duty deputy tried to stop an older model, dark-colored SUV without a license plate on Home Depot Dr. in Denham Springs. Ard said Beason took the deputy on a car chase before allegedly firing several shots at the deputy, who then returned fire. Beason ran away west on Springwood Drive. The deputy was not injured.

The sheriff's office says once Beason is arrested, he will face several charges, including attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.
