Causeway camera catches meteor shower

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - On the X-Files, Fox Mulder held an unwavering belief that we are not alone in the universe.

Though it didn't involve extraterrestrial life, at least 133 people across the southeastern United States saw the same startling sight early Wednesday morning.

What is being called a shooting star by the National Weather Service, blazed quickly across the sky prompting reports from north central Tennessee to Beaumont, Texas.

A location map charting reports was put together by the National Weather Service in New Orleans.

The Fox 8 newsroom received calls from areas stretching from I-55 at the Louisiana/Mississippi state line to Lockport, La.

There were more than a dozen sightings in the metro New Orleans area, according to the map.

Law enforcement received calls from people thinking they saw a plane crash.
