NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Through the rest of the week, mornings will continue to be nice and mild, especially north of the lake. We may notice some patchy fog and humidity starts to gradually increase. The afternoons will be warm to almost hot with temperatures running above normal in the mid to upper 80s.
This weekend, there could be a couple of showers as a weak disturbance passes, but most of the area will stay dry. Rain coverage at 20% or less. Humidity will rise and so will temperatures, so plan on it feeling even hotter.
According to Chief Meteorologist David Bernard, some areas could see record heat for the beginning of next week with temperatures flirting with or exceeding 90 degrees.
So, it will get worse before it gets better. Looking toward the end of next week, we may finally see that cooler air return- stay tuned!
In the tropics, Nicole is a hurricane and will likely strike Bermuda on Thursday before making its way out to sea. Elsewhere tropical development is not expected.
