NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - He was officially listed as a limited participant at Panthers practice. But for the Saints, their preparation for Cam Newton is pretty clear.
"He's playing," Kenny Vaccaro bluntly said.
"I think in our case, we're preparing for him. We feel he's going to play and starting with Monday's practice even, I think that's clearly the only way to approach it," Sean Payton said.
And for good reason, Newton is arguably the most dynamic quarterback in the NFL. He's also had a history of big games in the Big Easy. Last year, he lit up the Saints secondary for five touchdowns in the Superdome.
"He was the MVP last year," Vaccaro said. "He obviously brings a lot of challenges with his legs, extends plays, has a rocket arm can make all the throws. He is a special player. We are going to be saying for however long, every year."
While the Saints are preparing for Newton he may not be the only threat to return. Running back Jonathan Stewart also was a limited participant Wednesday and could be back after a three game absence.
