New Orleans police confirm a recruit was arrested today on charges he committed a burglary at a Mandeville business.

Mandeville police say a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt took a cash box from the Bella salon in the 3400 block of East Causeway Approach yesterday morning.  Investigators say the burglar was 21-year-old Jacob Dye, who is a recruit in field training for the NOPD.

Spokesman Tyler Gamble says after the arrest today, Dye is now on emergency suspension without pay.
