NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police are looking for a blue Jeep Liberty in connection with shooting Monday on Interstate 10, according to an NOPD news release.
The shooting, which injured a 24-year-old man, happened in the westbound lanes near Chef Menteur Highway at about 11:15 a.m. as the victim was cleaning up trash along the roadway while wearing a bright, neon-yellow safety vest.
The victim told police he saw a blue Jeep Liberty, possibly a 2004 model, approach him traveling about 50 mph in the right lane. The victim told police he saw a black male in the rear passenger seat hanging out of the rear right window armed with a black pistol. As the vehicle passed his location, the victim told detectives the rear passenger fired about six shots in the victim's direction. He sustained a minor graze wound to the right hip.
The vehicle then fled westbound on I-10 West.
The blue Jeep Liberty is described as having an unknown Mississippi license plate. The vehicle is missing its spare tire, which would be located on the rear door.
