NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - More restoration efforts are planned for historic Gallier Hall.
Pieces were falling off the facade of the historic hall back in 2014. But money was raised and projects completed to give Gallier Hall a facelift.
Today New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will explain the next phase in restoring what was once City Hall in New Orleans: restoring inside the hall.
On the list of things to be restored include historic paintings, frames, chandeliers and windows in 12 grand ballrooms, rewiring and refinishing floors.
Two Steinway pianos will also be restored a new state of the art audio/visual system will be installed.
The cost to restore everything on that list: $5 million. But that has been generously taken care of by a donation from the William Helis Foundation.
The restoration efforts are all designed to have New Orleans' former City Hall ready by the 2018 Tricentennial.
