MANDEVILLE, LA (WVUE) - Mandeville police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident that damaged a vehicle early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at 5 a.m. in the 700 block of Heavens Drive.
Police said officers responding to a call of gunfire in the area found a parked SUV with several bullet holes. Nobody was inside of the vehicle at the time and no injuries were reported.
After further investigation, detectives identified 18-year-old William Nicodemus of Covington as a person of interest. During questioning, Nicodemus confessed to shooting the victim's vehicle because of a disagreement with the victim's boyfriend. He was arrested and transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
Detectives also learned that Nicodemus was involved in several prior incidents with the victim's boyfriend. Another individual, identified as 18-year-old Kane DiMaggio, was also involved in those those incidents, according to police.
At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a disturbance at a gas station in the 4500 block of Highway 22 in Mandeville. Officers located DiMaggio inside the store, which is where the victim's boyfriend works. DiMaggio was taken into custody. Officers found a handgun inside DiMaggio's vehicle, which they believe is the same gun used in the early morning shooting incident. DiMaggio was brought to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
DiMaggio was booked with simple assault, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice. Nicodemus was booked with aggravated criminal damage and illegal use of a weapon.
There was no word on whether bond had been set.
