RUDDOCK, LA (WVUE) -

I-55 Northbound was closed for about an hour Friday morning, but is now reopened after dump truck went off the side of the interstate. This incident happened on I 55 just before the Ruddock exit.

Louisiana State Police say according to witnesses on the scene, a dump truck towing a trailer with a backhoe on it was traveling northbound on I-55 when someone driving a white truck swerved in front of him cutting in front of him and forcing the dump truck to go over the guard rail into the water.

The dump truck landed on its wheels. There was a male driver and two other passengers in the dump truck and were told everyone inside was transported to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond with minor injuries.

I-55 was shut down for about an hour but is now reopened. The dump truck did eventually sink underwater. A wrecker did arrive on scene and police are to locate a crane to retrieve the dump truck and trailer.
