HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) - A Hammond woman was shot to death in front of her home Sunday morning, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Department.
Authorities received a call reporting gunshots around 8:45 a.m. The caller who reported the shots told police a lifeless body was lying in front of the home next door.
When deputies arrived, they found 50-year-old Linda Williams lying on the found in front of her home.
Witnesses told police that after hearing the shots, they saw Williams' ex-husband, 53-year-old Jerry Williams, Jr. of Ponchatoula, leaving the scene in a red Mustang.
It is believed that the suspect approached the victim as she was leaving her house. At that point, the victim was shot once in the head.
Linda Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are searching for Jerry Williams Jr. on a warrant for second-degree murder.
Detectives found the red Mustang Williams used while fleeing the scene.
At this point, investigators do not know what sort of vehicle Williams is currently driving.
