KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A St. Rose man is behind bars for burglarizing vehicles in Kenner, according to the Kenner Police Department.
Police say on Oct. 25 around 1 a.m., an alert citizen contacted police and reported that he was outside the Hilton Garden Inn at 4535 Williams Boulevard and observed a man taking things out the beds of pickup trucks in the parking lot. Officers arrived on scene and was directed by the witness to a white Mazda Protégé that was fleeing the parking lot area.
Kenner Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in the 4000 block of Williams Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 54-year-old Luther McGee of St. Rose was detained.
The witness identified McGee as the person responsible for two vehicles found burglarized in the parking lot. McGee had removed tool boxes, a nail gun, saw, and a ballistic vest and carrier with belonged to a EPA investigator from the vehicles he burglarized.
McGee denied committing the vehicle burglaries.
McGee had been arrested in April 2013 for burglarizing vehicles in the 4500 block of Williams Boulevard. He was given a two-year suspended sentence and placed on probation. McGee completed his supervised probation on July 2015. McGee remains in custody. No bond has been set.
