Jury selection winding down in Covington murder trial

COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) -

Jury selection is winding down this afternoon in a Covington double-murder trial.

A 17-year-old is charged with first-degree murder in the 2014 killings of his father and two-year-old half-sister.

Jury selection began Monday in the double-murder trial of Jacob Middleton, Jr.

Jacob was 17 in January of 2014 when authorities say he shot and killed his father Jacob and his two-year-old half-sister Makayla.

Both victims died of gunshot wounds to the head.

At the time the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff said there was a history of domestic problems at the home on Carnation in the Abita Nursery subdivision.

Jacob Middleton, Jr. is represented by attorney Martin Reagan in a trial expected to last four to five days.
