NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Fire marshal office workers say the owner of Hammond motel housing flood victims needs to address a long list of deficiencies.
They say an inspection of the Hammond property Oct. 26 turned up problems, which include non-working fire alarm systems. Other problems include deficient smoke detectors and occupants cooking in the rooms.
For now, 27 occupants who are flood victims in need of temporary housing, will not be asked to leave.
One flood victim claims the motel evicted her after she brought attention to her living conditions.
