Man charged with raping a woman in Houma

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A man was arrested for raping a woman in Houma early Friday morning.

According to Houma Police Department reports, police responded to a call around 5:40 a.m. reporting a rape in the 300 block of Howard Avenue.

Kimball Nevis, 51, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape.

Police say Nevis and the victim were walking on a path behind a business that leads from Howard Avenue to Payne Street.

While they were walking, police say Nevis forced the victim to the ground and raped her.

Nevis was later found on the east side of Houma and taken into custody without incident.

The 35-year-old woman was examined at a nearby hospital and later released.

Nevis was taken to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and charged.
