Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles stops accepting cash payments

BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles will no longer accept cash for transactions starting Nov. 1. The OMV says the payment method will depend on the service.

For drivers who need a driver’s license, identification cards, or mobility impaired hang tag, accepted payment methods include debit cards, credit cards, checks, money orders, and cashier checks.

People making reinstatement transactions can pay with debit cards, credit cards, money orders or cashier checks.

All vehicle transactions can be paid with debit cards, credit cards, checks, money orders or cashier checks.

The policy will also apply when OMV business partners purchase items from the OMV.
