NOPD: 12 robberies and carjackings between Sunday and Monday

A dozen robberies were reported Monday in initial New Orleans police reports.

All but one incident included a weapon, reports indicate.

Around 7:45 p.m. Sunday night in the 8200 block of Chef Menteur Highway Sam’s Food & Liquor was robbed by a woman with a gun.

A woman entered the store and asked for a bottle of liquor. She put the liquor on the counter and then grabbed it and fled.

The victim, a 21-year-old cashier, chased her and as he exited the store the suspect pulled a gun, pointed it at the victim, and ordered him back into the store.

The victim complied and the suspect fled.

The next robbery happened just before 6 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Dauphine and Spain streets.

The victim, a 48-year-old man, was approached from behind by a suspect, described as an armed black man.

The suspect took the victim’s wallet, chain and keys then fled on foot. 

Just before 6:30 a.m. Monday in the 4300 block Lotus Street a thief stole a woman’s backpack.

The victim, a 50-year-old woman, was parking her car when an armed suspect walked up.

The suspect ordered the victim out of her vehicle.

The victim complied and the suspect fled with her backpack.

Just after 6:30 a.m. was robbed at gunpoint in the 2700 block of Selma Street.

The victim, a 60-year-old man, was approached by a suspect, described as an armed black man.

The suspect demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim did not have a wallet and threw his cellphone on the ground.

The suspect grabbed the cellphone and fled.

Just before 11:45 a.m. in the 2400 block Chartres Street, a 25-year-old woman had her purse stolen.

The victim was approached by a suspect described as a black man.

The man pulled a handgun and took the victim’s purse and fled.

Just before 8:30 p.m.  Monday night a suspect tried to steal a car in the 3900 block of South Post Oak Avenue.

The victims, a 46-year-old man, and a 61-year-old woman were approached by a suspect, described as a black man.

The suspect got out of a light-colored Nissan Altima and approached the victims.

The suspect pulled a black handgun and demanded the car keys from the man.

The victim refused to give up the car keys and told the suspect to shoot him.

The suspect returned to his car and fled the scene.

A short distance away, a woman had her car stolen just after 8:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Red Oak Court.

The victim, a 49-year-old woman, pulled into her driveway with her child and was approached by a suspect described as a black man wearing a dark-colored hoodie.

The suspect was armed with a black handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys.

The victim and her child got out of the car and the suspect fled in her 2009 silver Infiniti G37 with a license plate #TIV804. 

Just before 8:30 p.m. that same night an 18-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in the 3400 block of Camp Street.

The victim was approached by a suspect, described as a black male between the ages of 14 and 16 years old.

The suspect punched the victim in the eye, took his wallet and fled. 

Two men were robbed at gunpoint just after 10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Conti Street.

A suspect, described as black man, got out of a new model Nissan Altima and showed the men, ages 30 and 26, the handle of a gun in his waistband.

He demanded their money and cell phones.

The victims complied and the subject jumped back into their car and fled the scene.

Just before 4 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Marigny and Burgundy streets a man and woman had their car stolen.

The victims, a 30-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman were approached by three black males, in their late teens.

Two of the suspects were armed with semi-automatic weapons and demanded the man get out of the car. 

He complied and the subjects fled in woman’s burgundy 2008 Mazda MX3 hatchback with a North Carolina license plate.

A man was robbed at knife point at 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 4500 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, met a woman on Bourbon Street and they drove to Chase Bank. 

The woman pulled a knife and forced the victim to withdraw $400 from the ATM.

She then fled the scene.

At 5:15 a.m. a 29-year-old woman was approached by an armed man in the 1400 block St. Louis Street.

The suspect ordered her to get inside her car. The suspect forced her to drive him to St. Louis and North Miro streets where he took money from her and fled the scene.
