NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - After 108-years of waiting and wondering, well, wonder no more Cubs fans. Your team has won the World Series. Now wasn't it worth the wait? Ben Zobrists' 10th inning double brought home the go-ahead run. Miguel Montero's single plated the game-winning run as the Cubs took game seven in Cleveland 8-to-7.
It's the Cubs first World Series title since 1908. And it ended the Indians bid for their first title since 1948. This was also the first time that a team has come back from 3-1 down in the series to win the title since the Kansas City Royals did so in 1985.
This was a game the Cubs almost let slip away. All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman blew a three-run lead with two outs in the eighth when Rajai Davis hit a tying homer.
But, Chicago would rally after a 17-minute rain delay, to win the title in the 10th inning.
