NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Retired New Orleans police Sgt. Gerard Dugue pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge in connection to the Danziger Bridge shooting.
Dugue pled guilty to writing a fraudulent police report.
Federal felony charges against Gerard Dugue were reduced yesterday.
He was sentenced to one year of probation.
The plea ends the criminal proceedings connected with the case.
The former New Orleans police officer pleaded not guilty to the original felony counts, including conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Two people died in the police shootings that happened on the Danziger Bridge in the days after Hurricane Katrina.
Earlier this year, four other former officers pleaded guilty to charges related to the shootings.
A fifth pled guilty in the cover-up.
